Carole Denton

Carole has 10 years experience as a public elementary school teacher in Grand Island, Nebraska. She has also been a family therapist, with varied special areas of interest, for over 25 years.

Carole received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln; her Masters of Science in Elementary Education and a Masters of Art Degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

Carole has held many association positions, among them are President of NAMI; Board Member of NEBHANDS and Region III Behavioral Health.

Mental Health and Co-Occurring Disorder Initiative

A pilot project in Judicial Districts 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, and 11 began in July, 2011, as the Administrative Office of the Courts and Probation implements its Mental Health and Co-Occurring 2-year Grant Project. The project provides limited adult and juvenile funding for mental health, co-occurring disorders, and sex offender evaluations. It includes evaluations for juveniles who sexually harm, as well as evaluations for individuals under presentence/predispositional investigation. In addition, the grant provides enhanced education in mental health for judges and probation staff statewide.

Carole Denton is an approved provider for the State of Nebraska's Mental Health Grant to do Sex Offender Evaluations for the NE Court System.

Carole uses problem solving skills with hospitality - to do a movie night in her home to open up discussion on social justice topics like Immigration and Border violence, Babies around the world, Battle at Whiteclay and Alcoholism at Pine Ridge and the town of White Clay, the history of the Underground Railroad : Reel movies of the heart - social justice movies as an example of one of her actions for missions and justice.

In opening up their home for movies and working for Literacy council, Campus ministries advocacy and Child Advocacy Center, she walks the walk and encourages others to do Missions and social justice in their everyday lives.
